I'm Still Here,
Me!
Ricky Graham premiered his first one-man show at Le Chat Noir with astounding results.
This post-storm cabaret show is a Graham original filled with original lyrics about the
trials and tribulations of being New Orleanian and a survivor of Mother Nature and Father
FEMA. Many of the songs are take-off of favorites with titles like Give Me FEMA/And I Am
Telling you, I'm Not Going! I'm Still Here, Still Got My Health, as well as some
wonderful orignals like Miss Bourbon Street, (a ballad written with Harry
Mayronne for The Club Toot Sweet On Bourbon Street ) and Father Bargain's Mardi
Gras in Heaven. Graham's characters (we've come to know and love) all came through the storm and have some choice
observations, as does Ricky, who sings a few just as himself accompanied by Jefferson
Turner.
The show has been a
sell-out since it opened and the audiences laugh, then cry, then laugh again. Ricky
hits all the right notes with this look at the people in the city we love. Come experience
that love, the laughter and the hope that these audiences embody. You'll be amazed at just
how good you'll feel after this show. It's just what we all need right now and in the months
to come.
Local theatre writer/actor, Michael Cahill puts it quite well:
"It goes without saying that it was very funny and entertaining...and timely......I think
that 100 years from now a videotape of Ricky's show would show the future more about the
experience of New Orleanians in 2005 than anything Douglas Brinkley could come up with." You
know, CNN came with its cameras to experience a different side of the Katrina experience.
They were just amazed that we still love to laugh."

| Musical of Musicals -- The
Musical! |
OFF-BROADWAY HIT,
A-LIST PERFORMERS TO DAZZLE BIG EASY THEATERGOERS WITH TALENT, CLEVER PLOT AND
LAUGHS!
Escape your troubles for an evening filled with music, comedy and passion with an A-list
of talented actors including original Off-Broadway cast members Leslie Castay and
Craig Fols with New Orleanians Elizabeth Argus, Christopher Bentivegna, all
here to perform in The Musical of Musicals -- The Musical!, an Off-Broadway hit
written by Eric Rockwell and Joanne Bogart.
The Musical of Musicals -- The Musical!, co-produced by Brandt Blocker
Presents and Gary Solomon, Jr. of Coming Together Nicely, LLC, is a musical
about musicals. In this hilarious satire of Musical Theatre, one story becomes five
delightful musicals, each written in the distinctive style of a different master of the form.
June, an inge'nue who can't pay the rent, is threatened by her evil landlord. Will the
handsome leading man come to her rescue?
In an evening of variations on a theme, this basic plot is musicalized the way Rodgers and
Hammerstein might have envisioned it, taking place in Kansas in August, complete with a Dream
Ballet.
The story is then done in the style of Stephen Sondheim, featuring the landlord as a
tortured, artistic genius who slashes the throats of his tenants in revenge because they
don't appreciate his Art.
When presented in the style of Jerry Herman, the story becomes a splashy star vehicle,
while the Andrew Lloyd Webber version is a rock musical, with borrowed themes from Puccini.
The story is re-told one last time in the style of Kander and Ebb, set in a Cabaret in
Chicago.
Leslie Castay not only performs in the show, but also co-directs with Brandt
Blocker. Joining Castay and Fols on the stage will be local theater icon, Elizabeth
Argus, and New Jersey native and New Orleanian, Christopher Bentivegna.
"Whether you are a Broadway enthusiast or a newcomer, you will love this hilariously funny
and clever production," says Leslie Castay, original Off-Broadway cast member, New
Orleanian, co-director and current cast member of The Musical of Musicals -- The
Musical! "As actors, we have a unique opportunity to sing different styles and perform
five different roles -- all in one evening! The script, witty, cleanly written and funny, is
filled with inside jokes that call on the audiences' imaginations."
"We are here because we believe in New Orleans, its people and its theater," says Gary
Solomon, Jr., New Orleans native and the 20-year-old co-producer of The Musical of
Musicals -- The Musical! "New Orleans has always been and will continue to be a sanctuary
for the arts, and we are both proud and honored to contribute this production to New Orleans
theater."
Brandt Blocker, co-director and co-producer of The Musical of Musicals -- The
Musical!, adds, "Our all-star cast is one of the finest to grace a New Orleans stage and
will dazzle the audience with their humor, vocals and fancy feet. We encourage the entire
community -- a warm, fun-loving and cultured community -- to join us for many evenings and
reward yourself with a good, deep, infectious laugh. The entire City of New Orleans is
deserving of a night filled with both music and laughter!"

| The Red Light District Variety
Show |
From the minds of Jim Fitzmorris, Aimee Hayes, Morla Gorrondona, Julie and Bud
Faust, and folks from The Levee has grown The Red Light District Variety
Show. It's gonna be a good time--possibly a drug-addled Nagin puppet, a candy striper,
Bush on Air Force One--who knows what will be in store when this crew gets in gear?
Jim Fitzmorris emcees late nite of gossip, raves, rants and rumors about our political
affairs featuring dancing girls, singing poodles, musical guests and, in the spirit of
sharing, each show benefits a local nonprofitworking to better our lives PostK. We support
their important work as they support ours. The first two shows benefit Levees.org
with 10% of our box office proceeds being donated.
The mission of The Red Light District Variety Show: If the mayor, FEMA, Katrina,
Rita, Blanco, Jefferson, the Corps have done you wrong then this is the right place for you.
If you're not a politician but you don't think signing petitions is enough to do then welcome
home. We believe the best way to deal with PostK pain is to laugh, mock, savage, mock some
more and laugh again.
Who else can be part of the show? While acts such as dancing roller girls, cheeky puppets,
improv sketchers, stand-ups, maybe a magician, qualified ranters, chanteuses, flea circus
performers, etc. don't have to be politically themed we do find this more interesting.
However, we make room for the brilliantly bizarre and exponentially talented so if you're not
the next Noam Chomsky submit anyway (besides would you want to listen to him sing We Are
the World? Okay, well, maybe...) If you would like to be involved and you want to perform
please submit your Idea, Sketch, or Act. The Red Light District Variety Show
will hold rolling auditions as we play a two-month run, so get your work in sooner
than later. Address inquiries or submissions to:
Aim?e Hayes at redlightdistrictvariety@gmail.com.
Please include: your name, phone number, alternate number and resume. If you have one, not
to worry. If you would prefer to send us a tape or DVD, please email first.
And remember "If it's good for New Orleans, it's good for me!"

| Sister's Christmas Catechism --
The Mystery of the Magi's Gold |
By Maripat Donovan with Jane Morris and Marc Silvia It's 'Forensic
Files goes to Bethlehem' in this holiday mystery extravaganza, by the author of Late Nite Catchism and
Late Nite Catechism 2, as Sister takes on the mystery that has intrigued historians
throughout the ages. Whatever happened to the Magi's gold? (We know that Mary used the
frankincense and myrrh as a sort of potpourri -- they were in a barn after all.) Retelling
the story of the nativity, as only Sister can, this hilarious holiday
production is bound to become a yearly classic. Employing her own scientific tools, assisted
by a local choir as well as a gaggle of audience members, Sister creates a living nativity
unlike any you've ever seen. With gifts galore and bundles of laughs, Sister's Christmas
Catechism is sure to become the newest addition to your holiday traditions.

| Anatomically
Incorrect |
Anatomically Incorrect illustrates - once again - the ingenious creativity of
Jeffery Roberson.
"It is official. No one can compete with Varla Jean Merman. No one. No one should
even try. Someday, when Merman decides to perform no more, her ginger wig should be
hung in the rafters of the Drag Queen Hall of Fame and retired.
Merman's brand new show Anatomically Incorrect ...is yet another triumph of drag
as art and an example of the ingenious creativity of actor Jeffrey Roberson, who
portrays Varla, and his team, including director Michael Schiralli, producer Mark
Cortale, costume designer Michael Velasquez and co-writer Jacques Lamarre.
Anatomically Incorrect is seamless and hilarious, appropriately subversive as well as
completely original and fresh. The show flows like Merman is making it up on the spot, and
when improv is too irresistible, she does. But Anatomically Incorrect has the indelible and undeniable mark of a complete
and total professional. Varla Jean Merman takes drag into the world of high art, without
losing sight of the lowbrow world that gave a man in high heels its start.
"Now that's an opening," exclaims Merman as she bends over, rear end to the audience,
after performing an opening number that included a spitting camel, Osama bin Laden and a
body suit featuring the finer organs within Ms. Merman. Anatomically Incorrect is an
invitation for the audience to all "come inside Varla Jean Merman" and take a look around at
the inner workings of the red-headed international chanteuse. The show never lets up, it
never has a weak moment. The costumes, the original songs, the jokes, the banter, the wig design, the hilarious videos - everything
about Anatomically Incorrect is an achievement of the highest quality.
Truly.
Longtime fans and Varla virgins will L-O-V-E this show. It is truly her best in years,
which is quite a statement after the past hilarious shows Under a Big Top, Girl With A
Pearl Necklace and I'm Not Paying For This. Anatomically Incorrect is Varla at
her best. Anatomically Incorrect is a theatrical triumph. It may seem strange to say
that a drag performance can be a theatrical triumph, but then again Varla Jean Merman is not
just any drag queen - at the moment she IS drag."

Fred Kasten
Kasten, who still plays piano and trombone, grew up in a musical family, became
addicted to radio at an early age and now his work at WWNO isn't only on air. He's
been influential in developing underwriting and promotions for the station, sort of a
...public radio jack-of-all-trades with a finger on the city's jazzy pulse...and the
godfather of Crescent City at Le Chat Noir.

Ronnie Virgets
Virgets has, in his 55 years, been a Bourbon Street Bartender, a journalism professor, a
racetrack PR director and a newspaper sportswriter. It has been his more recent visibility on
television, however, that has provided the viewing public with an image that many consider to
be a true and forthright reflection of the city's charm. The F publication of Say, Cap!
The New Orleans Views of Ronnie Virgets now provides the reading public with tangible
evidence of that reflection. Virgets has won numerous awards from the New Orleans Press
Club for his writings in The Times-Picayune, Gambit Weekly and New Orleans
Magazine. His work in television has earned him several awards, including an Emmy.

Astral Project is a band that according to Down Beat is ...one of the most
distinctive and cohesive quintets in jazz of the '90s.
Formed in 1978 from the cream of New Orleans' modern jazz scene, Astral Project has remained
a unit even while its members explored innumerable other endeavors, including recordings as
leaders and sidemen for a wide array of major and independent labels. Through it all, the
band known as New Orleans' Premier Jazz Ensemble has always regrouped to reach for the
stars. JazzTimes proclaimed Astral Project as ...one of the more adventurous

Craig Fols
As a member of the original New York cast of Musical of Musicals, and a
veteran of over 500 performances of the show off-Broadway, Craig Fols is delighted to
be bringing his MOM characters to his favorite American city, New Orleans. His
involvement with the show began with early readings, continued through three New York
openings and the original cast album, and eventually gave him the chance to perform
for--and meet--many of his musical theatre heroes: Harold Prince, Carol Channing, Arthur
Laurents, Stephen Sondheim, and Kander and Ebb, among others. And now the adventure
continues. In addition to his performing career, Craig is also a playwright and lyricist: his
first play Buck Simple was published in The Best American Short Plays, and he
is currently enrolled as a lyricist in the BMI Workshop where he is writing a show
about--what else?--New Orleans.
